The secret sauce is as old as time: Deep connection!
Suits & Sneakers is a community built by business owners, for business owners. We operate on the fundamental principle of proximity. While technology allows us to stay connected when life is busy, it is a supplement and not a substitute for the real thing.
Our core belief is that consistent in-person connection is one of the most overlooked drivers of sustainable business growth.
When people who share the same pressures and risks spend time together regularly, they stop operating in isolation and become part of a high-trust ecosystem. We call this a supplementary economy, where the strength of the network directly supports the success of the individual.
Ultimately, our goal is to help more business owners do business with each other while feeling supported in their entrepreneurial journey.
From this proximity, trust forms naturally. It removes the friction that usually exists in networking and makes it easier to collaborate, refer work, and support one another. We believe that two hours spent in intentional proximity to your peers often saves you twenty hours of trying to figure things out alone.
Over time, this community becomes a place where business flows through real relationships. From then on, there is nothing better than supporting a fellow owner who is in the trenches with you.
This application helps us understand whether your mindset and business context are a fit for the proximity and connection we intentionally cultivate at Suits & Sneakers.

A supplementary economy needs a physical home!
In-person connection only works when the physical environment supports it. Public spaces and noisy cafés make deep conversation hard and expensive lunches make regular meet-ups unsustainable. That's why Suits & Sneakers has invested heavily in creating a dedicated Clubhouse for our members.
We don’t view the Clubhouse as an optional perk or an "add-on" to a digital group. Without it, the consistency and proximity required for business owners to build trust and do meaningful work together simply wouldn’t exist. The Clubhouse is the anchor that turns a network of people into a high-functioning ecosystem. Here's how that plays out inside the Clubhouse.

DAILY FACILITATED MEMBER MEET-UPS
We don’t believe in throwing random people into a room and calling it networking. Our member sessions are intentionally curated to ensure that every person around the table is a peer. We take the friction out of the experience by handling the introductions, facilitating the conversation, and including the cost of lunch in your membership.
The format is designed to move past small talk and into real business conversations quickly. This structure allows members to understand each other's origin stories, making it easier to identify opportunities and build trust naturally.
Over time, these intimate sessions turn the community into a trusted marketplace. By sitting around a table with each other, you move from being contacts to a professional support system where opportunities and referrals flow naturally.

MEMBER SKILL SWAP SESSIONS
Skill Swaps are the heart of the membership. These are intimate, curated, in-person sessions where members share practical, real world skills to others who have intentionally chosen to be in the room. Maximum of 6-8 people per session.
This isn't theory from a textbook; it’s practitioner-led learning from peers who are experts in their field. Each session has a clear topic, a short teaching segment, facilitated conversation, and lunch included to ensure you leave with actionable insights for your business.
In one sitting, members learn a new skill while connecting deeply with other members, break bread together and change the scenery to help shift perspective. This is where real relationships and collaborative opportunities start to form.

ACCESS TO THE TOP 1%
We host entrepreneurs and other exceptional leaders 3-4 times a month for small, in-person meet-ups. These are people who operate at the very top of their field, and who are willing to share what they’ve learned along the way.
Once again, these groups are intentionally capped at 6-8 people to ensure real conversation rather than a lecture. This intimacy allows for a level of honesty and depth you won't find at large conferences or online webinars, giving you a chance to ask the questions that actually matter to your business.
We are incredibly proud of this value add. It is only possible because of the deep network Suits & Sneakers has developed over the last ten years. Because the groups are so small and the value is so high, these sessions often get booked up in a matter of minutes.

THE CLUBHOUSE: A THIRD SPACE FOR WORK
A "Third Space" is the essential environment between home and the office. It is a place intentionally designed for focus and connection.
While we aren’t trying to replace the office for everyone, the Clubhouse is a high-performance home for our members. Whether you work here daily or drop in occasionally to change your scenery, the space is built to support your best work.
We’ve invested heavily in every detail, from quiet zones and meeting rooms to fast internet and premium refreshments.
Everything is intentionally designed to remove the isolation of the modern founder, providing a grounded, professional atmosphere where you can work alongside peers without the friction of a traditional office.

SUITS & SNEAKERS WEEKLY EVENTS
These events are how people first came to know us and remain a central way we bring serious learning into the room. Having our own Clubhouse has allowed us to turn these into a consistent, weekly rhythm rather than just a few big moments throughout the year.
The same Clubhouse members work from during the day is reconfigured to host hundreds of people, supported by high-quality AV and live streaming. Members have full access to these recordings, ensuring the insights shared from the stage become a permanent resource.
Because these events are open to the public, members get to exhibit their businesses at no cost to both our community and an outside audience. This is a mega perk that turns every weekly event into a live marketplace where you can showcase your work and build authority.

THE SOCIAL LAYER
Real connection doesn’t only happen through work. The Clubhouse is intentionally designed to host social experiences alongside business and learning, from shared dinners and movie nights to live sport, movement, and other moments that bring people together.
The same space that supports focused work and serious conversation can shift easily into a place for gathering in lighter, more human ways. This flexibility allows relationships to form without an agenda, which is often where real bonds are built.
Over time, these shared experiences turn professional contacts into long-term relationships. By moving beyond transactional interactions, our members become a genuine part of each other’s lives. This is the social glue that turns a network into a community and makes the "Supplementary Economy" truly thrive.

What is the actual cost of building your business alone?
Most business owners don’t see how much of their day is spent compensating for missing support. When you’re acting as your own marketing agency, your own networking engine, and your own lonely cheerleading squad, you’re paying an invisible cost in time, focus, and mental energy.
The Suits & Sneakers membership is priced at R1950 per month. For most entrepreneurs, the act of connecting with others in-person usually means R150 to R350 cost at some restaurant. Subconsciously, this expense turns regular meet-ups into a monthly luxury at best. Because of our investment in the Clubhouse, we are able to turn these vital meet-ups into a daily reality.
As a member, you can attend daily meet-ups with lunch included, work from the Clubhouse, and attend our signature weekly events. You also have the opportunity to exhibit your business and access our professional video studio and workshop space at preferential member rates.
While the R1950 fee is already significant value for the meals, the workspace, and the learning sessions alone, the real return happens when you stop feeling isolated and start building alongside your peers.
When you add in the potential for new business that flows from these genuine connections, R1950 moves from a simple cost to your greatest investment as a business owner.
Most exclusive clubs use a high price tag as their main filter. However, because we want this to be accessible to the founders who need it most, our curation process is vital. We are looking for members who genuinely align with our in-person philosophy and who understand that the collective strength of the group depends on everyone showing up.
If you are a founder who values real-world connection and a supportive ecosystem, we invite you to take the first step and apply below.

A few additional things people who are detail oriented usually want to know:
If you have made it this far, you are likely our kind of person. We value people who look for clarity and context before they dive in.
Suits & Sneakers is a comprehensive ecosystem built around real people and real proximity, which naturally raises practical questions about fit, time, and how the value actually shows up in your day-to-day life.
We have provided these answers to help you decide if our approach aligns with what you are currently building.
The membership is built for full-time business owners and freelancers who believe that relationships are a strategic driver of growth. The people who get the most value here actively carry the responsibility of a business and are looking for a more sustainable way to build than going it alone. They see in-person connection as a priority worth investing in, even when their schedule is demanding.
You don't need to be at a specific revenue level but you do need to be "pot committed." to your business. We attract people who are curious, open to being challenged, and who value perspective as a necessary path to better results. If you are someone who is constantly looking to sharpen your thinking and improve how you lead your business, you will find yourself among peers here.
This community works best for those who want to create value before they extract it. It is not a place for endless pitching or transactional networking. Instead, we look for people who believe business is built through trust, proximity, and contribution. If you are looking for a passive directory or a purely promotional platform, this will not be the right fit.
What sets us apart is not just the idea of community. We actually encourage our members to be part of multiple networks, as different groups serve different purposes.
Where we have made our most deliberate and costly bet is on the power of in-person connection. We have invested every resource available to us into building permanent, physical spaces because we believe that business owners deserve a dedicated home.
Our Clubhouse is not an external venue we hire occasionally. It is a permanent foundation that belongs to our members. This investment guarantees a level of stability and consistency that temporary setups simply cannot match. It allows business owners to see each other often, work alongside one another, share meals, learn together, and build real familiarity over time.
In the modern world, many communities operate primarily online or meet in public spaces when they can. We have chosen a different path because we believe that proximity and the quality of interaction matter above all else. Our Clubhouse is a physical sanctuary where we use digital tools to amplify our connections rather than replace them.
The honest answer is that it depends on you and the nature of your business. We don't over-promise instant results because real, high-stakes business relationships are rarely built overnight. If you are looking for a purely promotional platform for immediate sales, this will not be the right fit. We are focused on building momentum rather than providing instant gratification.
Context matters. If your business relies on high-volume, small-ticket sales, the "value" will look different than for a founder who only needs one significant contract to pay for the year. This is the reality of the business world. We provide the environment, but the speed at which it converts into revenue is dictated by your industry, your offering, and your willingness to build trust.
For most members, the first layer of value is immediate. It shows up as the end of the "Isolation Tax." From your first few sessions, you are no longer networking cold or carrying the weight of your business alone. Gaining perspective, sharpening your thinking, and spending time with people who understand your pressures is a significant "win" that happens from day one.
The tangible business returns compound over time. Value shows up through better decision-making, collaboration, and referrals, but these flow naturally to those who show up and contribute. We are here to help you build the infrastructure for long-term success, which is a process that cannot be rushed.
The kind of environment we are building only works if the room is intentionally curated. High-level trust and collaboration do not happen when you throw random people together. They happen when there is shared intent and mutual respect. The curation process exists specifically to protect the quality of your experience.
We are not filtering for status or the size of your balance sheet. Instead, we are paying attention to your professional caliber and how you think about relationships. We look for people who value doing business through trust rather than transactions and who are willing to contribute to the room rather than just extract from it. This ensures that when you walk into the Clubhouse, you are surrounded by people who are as "pot committed" as you are.
The application helps us ensure there is a genuine fit before anyone commits. When the room is right, the conversations are better and the connections are stronger. We take the responsibility of saying "no" to the wrong people very seriously because that is the only way to guarantee the right environment for the members who belong here.
The membership is designed to give you time back by centralising your support system. When you have a dedicated space to work, learn, and connect, you spend less time networking in the wrong rooms and more time building relationships that matter. Everything we host is intentional because we understand that for a business owner, time is the most expensive resource.
There is no minimum time requirement or mandatory attendance. However, the return on your membership is directly tied to your presence. The value doesn't come from passive access or consuming content only when it is convenient. It comes from making in-person connection a strategic choice in your schedule. If you are in the room, it is because there is a tangible benefit to your business, whether that's a new skill, a critical conversation, or a fresh perspective.
Ultimately, this works best for those who treat the Clubhouse as a core part of their work week rather than an optional extra. The members who see the greatest ROI are those who make space for regular interaction, even if it is just a few hours a week. If you value proximity and understand that the best opportunities happen when you are actually in the room, this will be a high-value fit for your schedule.
To be clear, the supplementary economy isn’t a rule or a requirement. It’s a natural outcome of proximity and trust. When you work alongside people and see how they actually operate, familiarity grows and it becomes easier to back them with confidence. It is the shift from networking with strangers to collaborating with known quantities.
As the community grows, members naturally start turning to each other for advice, referrals, partnerships, and paid work. This doesn't happen out of obligation but because it is simpler and safer to work with people you know and respect. By observing each other’s professional conduct in a shared environment, the risk of collaboration is significantly reduced.
Over time, opportunity tends to flow toward those who show up, contribute, and do good work. The supplementary economy doesn't replace your interactions with the wider world. It strengthens them by keeping more value circulating between people who are genuinely invested in each other’s success. It is about creating a high-trust ecosystem where doing business feels less like a gamble and more like a shared advantage.
Your membership includes daily access to the Suits & Sneakers Clubhouse in Kramerville, with Woodstock coming online mid-2026 (Cape Town members will only transition to the full rate once the local Clubhouse is fully operational).
Members can work from the space, utilise available meeting rooms for professional engagements, and attend our curated member lunches and Skill Swap sessions with lunch included.
You also receive front-row access to our signature weekly events, discounted rates for our larger conferences, and preferential pricing on our professional video and podcast studios. Additionally, members have the opportunity to exhibit their businesses at certain large-scale events at no cost. To ensure everyone in the community gets a fair chance to be seen, we rotate these exhibition spots amongst the membership.
Once you apply, we invite you to a complimentary exploratory lunch to walk you through the full ecosystem. It is important to note that for founders based outside of our current physical hubs, a reduced membership rate applies.
You don't need to have every answer to be a good fit for this community. Many of our members join while they are still refining their offering, testing new ideas, or finding their footing. What matters is that you are a full-time business owner and genuinely committed to building something of substance.
Early stage does not disqualify you, but treating your business as a side project usually does. Suits & Sneakers works best for people who are already in the arena, carrying the weight of responsibility and making the difficult decisions that come with running a business day to day. We are looking for people who have skin in the game, regardless of how long they have been playing.
It is important to understand that this is not a startup incubator or a classroom; it is a community of people actively building. If you are willing to show up, contribute where you can, and learn from those further ahead of you, the environment will be incredibly valuable. Being around more experienced owners helps you avoid common mistakes and gain perspective faster, while early-stage founders bring a level of fresh energy and innovation that keeps the entire room sharp.
Yes. Many of our members are based elsewhere and use the Clubhouse as their professional headquarters when they are travelling to Johannesburg or Cape Town. You still gain full access to the wider Suits & Sneakers network, the member ecosystem, and the strategic resources that support founder growth.
Because we are a proximity-driven community, we recognise that your usage of the physical space will be different. For founders based outside of these two cities, a reduced membership rate of R495 per month applies. This ensures you stay connected to the "Supplementary Economy" and the collective intelligence of the group without paying for daily facility access you cannot yet utilise.
While we believe in the power of the physical, we don't ignore the digital. Your membership includes access to our live-streamed events and recordings, as well as the virtual sessions we host periodically to keep the community connected across distances. Being a non-local member ensures that when you do arrive in a city with a Clubhouse, you are coming home to a community that already knows who you are and what you are building.
No. We believe the value of the community should be the reason you stay, not a legal document. Membership runs on a month-to-month basis so that every person in the room is there because they feel the tangible impact on their business, their decision-making, and their clarity.
This flexibility is a reflection of our confidence in the environment we have built. We don't need to lock you in because we know the compounding value of the Clubhouse is difficult to walk away from. You are here for as long as the membership serves your growth.
For members who prefer to commit annually, we do offer additional value to reflect that commitment. Instead of a discount, we provide annual members with allocated credits for our professional video and podcast studios, giving you the resources to build your brand alongside your business. We can walk you through the details of our monthly and annual options during your complimentary exploratory lunch.
